joining up with the lovely gypsy mama for a little writing prompt fun.
5 minutes. no editing. just write.
today’s prompt was to pick a picture to getcha started.
i picked this lovely from our jaunt to NYC before christmas . . .
and go!
nancy’s boots were made for walking, but not these. these boots were made for jumping, and jumping high.
when two or more are gathered, extra lift is given . . . to jump and pose and smile, for the ground is far below, and with it worries, troubles, and the harsh thud of landing. the soles of those airborne show wear, tear, and scraping to get along, carrying burdensome dirt several times shaken. but the souls are lifted higher than they even dare to reach, for in that moment of freedom, before gravity pulls them back to earth, their faces betray truth.
in the space between ground and sky , there is great freedom to soar.
the end.
it’s tough not to go back and tweak. look for a better way to paint my word picture. but it’s fun just to get my paints out and try something new!
thanks gypsy mama :) see you next week!
Oh you paint with words so beautifully. I want to be those girls and I especially want their boots! :)
I think this was my favorite line, “for the ground is far below, and with it worries, troubles, and the harsh thud of landing…”
Yea, it’s great to be able to freeze-frame that moment when we are suspended above our worries and floating on hope and joy and friendship.
It always amazes me how words can paint an even more vivid picture than a photograph — because they translate what our eyes can only reflect.
Thanks for linking up Abby! See you at Blissdom soon?
