on work

17 Nov

i take a break from the work of this day to share, well, the work of this day.

it’s true.

i’ve weaseled my way into full-time employment once again.

three months on my own and i was starting to feel like it was right. the flexible freedom seduced me, but i was getting bored. missing meetings of all things. and people who need you day-to-day, really need you to come through. the challenge.

so when one of my freelance clients threw out a line, i took a bite, and here I am. filling out insurance paperwork and trying to remember, again, which numbers to fill in on the W2.

ahhh. this is the life.

and the best part? they let me name myself. true self-definition! i flirted with princess consuela banana-hammock, but decided instead on Digital Marketing Strategist (as bugles announce my arrival).

pretty snazzy, ay?

the real best part is as follows:

  • i get to work with a small team of passionate people putting every ounce of their effort and heart into a new endeavor.
  • my office is just around the corner and 13 hours up the highway from the company’s homebase in nashville (that’s right. i’m workin’ at home in little bethlehem!).
  • i will not go un-challenged.

there is a lot to be done as this wonderful team toils towards a big deadline in the new year and i couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the toilage . . . toiling . . . toilerama? the details are many and some wrapped in confidentiality, but i can say this.

i’m at the helm of the digital marketing/social media ship of a new music education experience for kids. there is an exciting, interactive web component that i can’t wait to share with you when it’s ready next year. let’s just say – if i had this awesomeness when i was a kid, you would all be grateful, and someone might have invited me to accompany my dear sister in performances at church/weddings/karaoke/etc.

maybe, maybe not.

either way – i’m whistling whilst i work!

Interesting that you are technically working in the “music” industry now. :)

Congratulations, Abby! Can’t wait to hear more about the new gig. Regarding your musical talent, I distinctly recall watching you perform in a number of musical productions. You were the cutest kid on the stage!

Well done. Next time, go with the other title. It’s not as descriptive but its much more fun.

Abby! How very exciting! Congratulations on the new job, I’m sure you’ll be very busy but I can completely understand the need to feel challenged in what you do. Can’t wait to hear more!
