yesterday morning, a morning which started at a lovely 45 degrees and warmed up to a beautiful fall day, i got the chance to pitch in and clean up some trash in our little town of bethlehem.
this was our happy crew post 2 hours of picking up trash on the side of the on-ramp and interstate.
we found fun stuff like: syringes, a bike frame, a bong, motor oil containers, tv antennas, a rope swing, trash enough to fill 15 bags plus tons of recyclables (some with questionable contents that had to be dumped). it was like a treasure hunt but smellier.
i came home, full of cider and pumpkin pie, to a paper-grading machine, and all of a sudden it felt like this was really our town.
and now, it’s a tiny bit cleaner.
