home-hum

13 Mar

there’s this thing real bloggers due. a linky. it’s the digi-quivelant of, say, a poetry group, or a people-who-like-to-talk-about-shapes-on-tuesdays group. i’m sure that group exists somewhere, and i salute it for both its individuality and its courage to assume there are other tuesday shape lovers out there.

today, emily @ chatting at the sky hosted a linky on “home.” i couldn’t resist. what a pleasure to be invited to write with all these other stranger-friends.

my sweet sister-in-law took this picture when she visited us last week, and i can’t get over it. it captures exactly what i love about this place, our first place, and what i will miss whenever we move on. from this view, you see what i see from my favorite seat – the light of the first springish day coming through the blinds that will never be straight, the restored 20s rocking chair we bought from our landlord that squeaks and creaks like it’s falling apart but would never let you fall, the birdcage he picked out the day we got back from our honeymoon and had wedding money to spend, the feet of a friend relaxing with us in this not-too-complicated but oh-so-sweet stage of life.

home.

just when i think it’s day-to-dull-day, i get a glimpse of this: the first home i helped make, and i’m happy.
